The purpose of the Miller-Mize gallery is designed to show more than just our capabilities to produce a wide variety of quality architectural precast it is also designed to demonstrate how other architects, designers and builders have creatively used precast in their projects. Each of the projects will provide unique project information and some illustrative detail to help highlight why this project was selected for the gallery.

UGA Special Collections Library, Athen GA

The Special Collections Library at the University of Georgia is in the final stages of completion. The library will be open to the public in Jan 2012. The exterior of the building is comprised of precast cornice, gutters, rakes, bands and entry columns integrated with brick and limestone base. The front entry entasis columns were built using 13 unique pieces stacked vertically to a cantilevered front gable.

Miller-Mize has been involved in a couple of Pheobe Sumter projects. The current project (photo) is the Medical Center in Americus,GA. The precast scope consist of hundreds of long lintels, a series of structural bands with integrated soffits, and large feature entry pieces. The upper cornice is built using cast stone hand settable panels which were designed to assist the mason in setting them below a roof over hang.
